On Thursday 4 October we welcome our new practice nurse Maureen Parsonage. Maureen is a highly experienced nurse who is able to carry out both diabetes and respiratory reviews including COPD and spirometry. Maureen will be working here on Thursdays and Fridays

Breast Screening at Wythenshawe Hospital - Eligible patients have recently been invited to attend routine breast screening. 808 patients attended from a total of 1074 invited (75%), 26 patients were reviewed in clinic and 3 cancers were detected. If you missed your invite please contact our Cancer Champions (Jo and Rebecca) at the surgery who will help you arrange a screening appointment.  If you have any worries or concerns regarding breast screening then please make an appointment with a GP to discuss.

On 12 April 2016 the surgery was inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and our overall rating was 'Good' with a rating of 'Outstanding' for people experiencing poor mental health. Please see CQC information page for full detailed report

Last month (September 2018) there were 92 patients who missed their appointment with the GP or Nurse

If you know that you will be unable to attend your appointment please can you call the surgery so it can be used by someone else

We have a text messaging service which confirms and reminds patients of their appointments, please check with reception if you wish to use this service.

Practice Policies

Confidentiality & Medical Records

Locked blue folderThe practice complies with data protection and access to medical records legislation. Identifiable information about you will be shared with others in the following circumstances:

  • To provide further medical treatment for you e.g. from district nurses and hospital services.
  • To help you get other services e.g. from the social work department. This requires your consent.
  • When we have a duty to others e.g. in child protection cases anonymised patient information will also be used at local and national level to help the Health Board and Government plan services e.g. for diabetic care.

If you do not wish anonymous information about you to be used in such a way, please let us know.

Reception and administration staff require access to your medical records in order to do their jobs. These members of staff are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the medical staff.

Complaints, Compliments and Feedback

We aim to provide all our patients with a high quality service.  However, if you have a complaint or a concern about the service you have received from any member of the Practice team please let us know as soon as possible.  In line with the NHS procedures we operate an informal complaints procedure where we hope the complaint or concern can be dealt with easily and quickly, often at the time they arise and with the person concerned.

If this is not possible and you wish to make a complaint please inform us as soon as possible. Complaints should be addressed to the Practice Manager. We will always attempt to resolve complaints quickly and keep you informed of our progress. 

To run a happy and successful Practice we welcome feedback from our patients. If you have any comments or suggestions we are happy to receive these from you.

Freedom of Information

Information about the General Practioners and the practice required for disclosure under this act can be made available to the public. All requests for such information should be made to the practice manager.

Access to Records

In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and Access to Health Records Act, patients may request to see their medical records. Such requests should be made through the practice manager and may be subject to an administration charge. No information will be released without the patient consent unless we are legally obliged to do so.

Violence Policy

The NHS operate a zero tolerance policy with regard to violence and abuse and the practice has the right to remove violent patients from the list with immediate effect in order to safeguard practice staff, patients and other persons. Violence in this context includes actual or threatened physical violence or verbal abuse which leads to fear for a person’s safety. In this situation we will notify the patient in writing of their removal from the list and record in the patient’s medical records the fact of the removal and the circumstances leading to it.
